Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I buy your jewelry?
Tefi Designs accepts all major credit cards via PayPal at my Etsy shop. To complete an order, you must first create a login on Etsy, just like you would with any other shopping site. PayPal and Etsy are verified secure sites, with hundreds of thousands of users.

Do you sell items in the Dallas area?
Yes. I am currently consigning with Move Studio in north Dallas and the Coffee Haus Downtown in Arlington.

What about shipping and handling?
Tefi Designs boasts very low shipping and handling costs. This is because Tefi Designs ships First Class U.S. mail, which does not offer a tracking number nor include insurance. Mail upgrades are available upon request, for an additional charge. I also reuse packaging, when appropriate, to save on handling fees.

How long will it be until my order ships?
Depending on the availability of your item and whether any custom adjustments are made, your piece will be shipped within 3-5 business days after payment is received. This excludes weekends and holidays.

Will Tefi Designs resize items?
I make my pieces to fit the average-sized woman (like me). But since we all come in different shapes and sizes, Tefi Designs will resize an item, if possible, by adding silver-plated chain for an additional charge. If chain cannot be used to lengthen a piece, an additional labor fee will be added to redo the entire piece.

Are your photos a good representations of what the actual pieces look like?
No. Photographs do not do justice to my unique handmade creations. However, I do my absolute best to edit the photos so that they represent the true color of each piece as accurately as possible. Due to variations between monitors, colors may appear slightly different in person than on the web.

What is Tefi Designs' return policy?
Items must be returned within 30 days, and must be in the condition in which they were originally sent. Please contact Tefi Designs before returning a piece. Shipping and handling fees are non-refundable.

What about repairs?
All items are guaranteed by Tefi Designs for up to six (6) months after purchase. Should a piece require repair due to a faulty part, there will be no chanrge for the repair. This is determined at the discretion of Tefi Designs. Repairs that fall outside this scope can also be made for the cost of materials plus a charge of $20 per hour ($10 minimum repair fee). Shipping will be covered by the customer. Tefi Designs cannot be held responsible for pieces that are lost or broken by their owners, and will not be covered for free repair.

Will you repair jewelry you didn't create?
Nope. Tefi Designs is not a repair shop.

Does Tefi Designs do custom orders?
I am currently not accepting custom orders.

How do you price your items?
Tefi Designs uses a professional pricing scale that is an industry standard. This formula includes parts, labor, and overhead. I always aim low so that you can enjoy beautiful, unique handmade pieces without breaking the bank.

The Really Small Print
Tefi Designs' creations are made up of small parts that may pose a danger to small children and pets. Customers are advised to keep Tefi Designs' pieces and all other jewelry out of the reach of small children. Tefi Designs is intended to be worn by adults only (unless otherwise stated). Tefi Designs is not responsible should an accident occur due to negligence, wear-and-tear, or faulty parts.

About Me, Tefi

I make things . I love stuff . My nickname is Tefi
Tefi Designs is a one-woman, Dallas-based jewelry design studio run by me, Stephanie Hindall. Formed in 1998 under the original name Velvet Frog Designs, Tefi Designs specializes in jewelry and accessories made with quality materials and craftsmanship. My favorite materials are: wool, sterling silver, gemstones, and fabric. Professionally, I work as a grant writer for a local non-profit serving homeless children, and am committed to serving the rescue efforts of local animal charities. Tefi Designs donates 10% of all net profits to local animal groups.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, I received my BA in English and Italian in 1998 and Bilingual Educator Certification in 2002.

My Crafty Life
Along with designing, creating, and managing Tefi Designs, I founded (in 2007) and lead Etsy Dallas, the original Dallas craft collective. Each year, I organize the Spring Bash and Jingle Bash, two distinct top-notch art/craft events in Dallas. I'm a published print writer and enjoy writing for several blogs, including Tefi Designs, Life With Ian, and Etsy Dallas.

Setting up my displays at the 2009 Spring Fling in Fort Worth (hello-o-o pregnancy weight!)

My Life in Oak Cliff
I live and work in the vibrant Dallas community of Oak Cliff with hubby Jason, baby son Ian, and dog Oliver.

Oak Cliff, a tight-knit artsy community just across the Trinity from downtown Dallas, is where I call home. I am an advisor for La Reunion, a local artist residency program in Oak Cliff and I sit on the Board of the Oak Cliff Artisans. Also (whew!), I am an active member of the North Cliff Conservation District neighborhood association, and recently began volunteering for the Jefferson Median Beautification Project.

On January 17, 2009 I became a first-time mother to Ian Alejandro, my darling boy wonder.

My Dreams
One day I will walk the highlands of Scotland, pick vanilla beans in Madagascar, and convince everyone to spay and neuter their four-legged friends.

My Handmade Philosophy
Handmade crafts are a testament to the people and times of a culture.

When you buy handmade, you support your local artist community and your local economy - when you buy handmade, you buy American. You can be sure that the piece you bought was made with love by someone just like you - not made in a factory, assembled by robots.

While many artists and artisans price their items fairly, remember that they are offering you a piece of their talent - made by their hands. So the next time you get ready to buy a gift for a loved one or yourself, choose handmade: choose a gift from the hands and the heart.
