Pixies, Peacocks and Dragonflies

New Designs for Spring
The past two months have been all about my newborn, Ian. But somehow I've managed to make a few exclusive necklaces and earrings. They are all One-of-a-Kind and available in my Etsy shop.

Never shopped on Etsy before? It is the marketplace for all things handmade. It's just like any other shopping site (Amazon, eBay, Anthropologie) where you will need to create a login and password. Sweet and simple!

Wrapping It Up

One of my favorite blogs is calling it a day. Craving Anthropologie was started back in 2005 by a woman named Jade who loves the sophisticated urban-chic store almost as much as I do.

As most good things must come to an end, so too does her blog, which chronicles the latest offerings from Anthropologie and praises them to the sky. I'll miss you Craving Anthropologie. Perhaps I'll fill the gap with an Anthro-loving blog of my own...

Instant Karma

Things have been silent on the Tefi blog front as of late. Cannot believe how busy I've been with pregnancy, family crisis-y type stuff, Etsy Dallas Jingle Bash planning, and work - you'd think raising money for homeless kids would be easy, but in this economic climate? Eesh. Fuggedaboudit.

So my crafty endeavors have suffered a bit, become secondary. Short of a few chunky beaded necklaces for myself, I haven't done much at all lately! Shame too, since I have so many completed pieces yet to be photographed and shared with the world (and in my Etsy shop). But I continue to get a sale here and there, and it always makes me smile - instant karma! I feel lucky to be able to outfit and adorn women around the world with my jewelry.

That said, here are a few of my favorite pieces for sale at my Etsy shop. Purchase a Tefi original today!

Welcome Summer Solstice!

Today is officially the first day of summer. If you live anywhere near my corner of Texas, then you know that summer really began 2 months ago. But alas, the stars have aligned and it's time to whip out the leafy garlands and dance around a tree or something.

But it's too dang hot!

So instead, let's ring in the summer season with a Big Ol' Sale in my Etsy shop. I've slashed prices like mad, and made sure nothing was over $40 ($39.50 to be exact). Just look at these great deals:

Forever In Blue Jeans
WAS: $60 / NOW: $39.50

Live Oak
WAS: $48 / NOW: $39.50

Maura
WAS: $55 / NOW: $39.50

Adios, Madagascar

One of my long-time favorite necklaces is gone to Pennsylvania. The Madagascar, made with a real Thai orchid and freshwater pearls, sold last week and I was happy to shine it and wrap it up nice and snug for my Etsy customer.

I also saw that orchids like these are for sale at Free People. They cost $20 less than mine, only they are strung willy-nilly on a plain cord. Bright and colorful, but a little boring!

Welcome to the Boomtown

Today is a Good Etsy Day! I'm showcased today in Etsy's Mother's Day shopping guide - yippee! This is good only for today, so give it a quick clickety-click.

I've done the showcases twice before with zero sales. But today is a windfall boom of a day for me. In fact, I am up to 96 sales. Let's make it 100 by the end of today and I will have a MEGA SALE in my shop! Deal?

And check out my latest in the Peapod series - this one with 2 sweet little peas! Aw...

So Darn Desirable

I was super-duper suprised and very, very pleased to see one of my fabric rings - Scotland Is for Me - featured in the blog desirable.co.uk. How awesome is that? And here's the ring that made the cut. It's named after a Belle+Sebastian slogan:

Welcome Spring!

The cool breezes and sunny days of late inspired me to create a whole new line of simple beaded pendants strung on metal choker neckwire. So simple and classy! I will debut these in person at the Oak Cliff Earth Day Festival. Stop by and visit me and pick up a pendant or two. (Also available on silver-plated chain, if that's your bag.)

Also available at my Etsy shop!

Fuzzy Dots

Welcome in the spring and my new Fuzzy Dots hair bobbies. Each is painstakingly made using the needlefelting process. This involves poke-poke-poking a mass of wool roving over and over (and over) again until the desired shape takes effect - in this case, a round fuzzy dot! Then I craft glue them to a silver-plated hair pin, et voila!

A New Way To Shop

Tefi Designs will soon be taking full advantage of Etsy.com, the web's premiere shopping experience for all things handmade.

Over the next few weeks, Tefi will be phasing out shopping capabilities on this site to redirect customers to Tefi's Etsy shop, where all of her gemstone jewelry will be available for purchase.

Tefi will also launch her new venture, Fiddleheads by Tefi, where customers can find all of her fabric and felt crafts, including bookmarks, bobby pins, necklaces, and hair clips.

Saturday - A Craft Story

Wow and wow again!

My fellow Etsy Dallas members and I had such a great time at our second and largest trunk show. In celebration of Cupid and his arrow shootin' ways, over 40 local artists and crafters filled the corridor of South Side offering up such great items as jewelry, art, soap, bags, photography, scarves, and stationery. Be on the lookout for a video of the event, shot and edited by Jason, my fabu boyfriend-slash-videographer.

Alright, you've been hearing me go on and on about this event since we began organizing it a month ago, so I'll leave you with this simple, eloquent statement: Etsy Dallas Rocks!!!!

P.S. Did you see the great press we got in the Quick and The Dallas Morning News? Whoa nelly!

P.P.S. While I'm always sad to see my pieces go, I'm thrilled to know that they are going to people who will love them, treasure them, and wear them with pride. Here are a few that I sold over the weekend. Goodbye my darlings!

Silver Hair, You Mock Me

Lately I've been noticing a certain glistening je ne sais quoi in the mirror. It's not a new tan nor a "glow," but rather, silver hair.

Now, I'm no spring chicken, but I'm no winter duck either. (Yeah, I made that up. Go on, take it.) I mean, for chrissake! I'm only 32. There is this one particular silver hair that grows straight up from the middle part in my hair. Looks like some sort of Alfalfa joke. I pluck it when I see it, then booooooooop! There it grows again.

So to keep myself feeling young, I make fabric button jewlery that has a flair for fun, youth, and color. In fact, I'm wearing one right now made with this fabirc by Alexander Henry, and I've gotten several compliments on it today:

I made these fabric button pendants awhile ago and could not figure out how to make the backs look fabulous like the fronts. They were just a plain metal backing with a glob of glue attaching the eye pin. Horrible. But alas! I've figured out a way to make the backs pretty, and now these guys have moved out of the prototype phase and into the Buy-Me-Now phase. So enjoy!

*NEW* Fabric Pendants

Oh my! Check out these colorful, extra-large fabric pendants I recently added to my Etsy shop! They are made with high-quality, designer fabric and look great with just about anything from a t-shirt to a sundress to a silk blouse. The listings are for the pendants only. Then, you can add on to your order either a silver-plated chain or neckwire. This gives you the option of customizing just the right piece for you.

By the way, I cannot believe that on the day after Christmas I made several online sales! Crazy. I was thinking you fine people would be done shopping but alas, you're going strong. Keep it up and thank you for supporting the handmade way!

You who know, tell me what love is.

After years of studying Italian, I'm pretty sure that's an accurate translation of an aria that I cannot get out of my head - "Voi Che Sapete." It's from the Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, and I it's been stuck in my head since 1995 when I first watched the BBC production of Pride & Prejudice (I know, I know.... Elizabeth Bennett sings an English translation of it.) To hear it, click here and type in "Voi Che Sapete," hit "Search" and BAM! There you go. You get about 7 versions to choose from.

The Marriage of Figaro is something I know you're familiar with, even if you don't know it yourself. There is a duettino that Tim Robbins plays in Shawshank Redemption that brings the criminals to a standing halt. Remember? Also, the Overture has been in about a thousand commercials, mostly diamond commercials ala "He went to Jared!".

Yikes. Once Mozart stops turning around in his grave, perhaps he'll be pleased with a couple of inspired pieces I made recently:

Rock Me Amadeus ring: SOLD

Rock Me Amadeus pendant: $7.50

I sold the ring last week to a gal in England, but I can easily make a duplicate if you are so inclined. The pendant is still available at my Etsy shop...(Oh my, see the video below. I just couldn't help myself.)

Felting Wool

About 2 months ago I purchased a lot of wool, some needles, and a couple books on making felted jewelry and accessories. With the slew of art shows behind me, a ton of fabric button goods completed, and the looming 5-day Christmas weekend upon me, I finally plan to learn how to make felted beads. I came across this Orbit Necklace by Moufelt and am IN LOVE with it. I will use it as a guideline and inspiration:

Where I got my wool and needles: Mary Jane's Attic
The books I bought: Hand-Felted Jewelry & Beads and Felted Jewelry: 20 Stylish Designs

Stayed tuned for some Tefi felted jewelry and wish me luck!
