Welcome Spring!

The cool breezes and sunny days of late inspired me to create a whole new line of simple beaded pendants strung on metal choker neckwire. So simple and classy! I will debut these in person at the Oak Cliff Earth Day Festival. Stop by and visit me and pick up a pendant or two. (Also available on silver-plated chain, if that's your bag.)

Also available at my Etsy shop!

Ferns & Fiddleheads

Many of you know about my obsession with fiddleheads, young ferns just waiting to unfurl and burst to life. It all started in a Whole Foods Market in Swampscott, Mass. The obsession has led me to launch my new Etsy shop, FiddleheadsByTefi, where I sell my fabric and felt goodies like this Fern ring: But my love for ferns and fiddleheads doesn't stop there. Here are some of my favorites from fellow Etsy sellers - so green, so lush!

Me & Ro (& Dirk, & Avery, oh & Jason)

Mavs Foundation 4th Annual Tux & Tennies Gala! Rolando Blackman - one of the nicest celebs I've ever met Whoa. Now that's tall. Yup. That's me with the head coach...and a beer Aw. Thanks to Brian Cuban for snapping this. (Yeah, I'm droppin' names. And without apology!) Stay tuned for photos of my superfly decorated tennies. I glues little dollies on them in homage to the hyperactive, hypersexy, put-some-clothes-on Mavs Dancers.

Fuzzy Dots

Welcome in the spring and my new Fuzzy Dots hair bobbies. Each is painstakingly made using the needlefelting process. This involves poke-poke-poking a mass of wool roving over and over (and over) again until the desired shape takes effect - in this case, a round fuzzy dot! Then I craft glue them to a silver-plated hair pin, et voila!

Available exclusively at www.FiddleheadsByTefi.etsy.com.

Gogol Bordello - La la-la-la LA!

Last night's show was unlike any other I'd seen at The Granada: the Flaming Lips, Grandaddy, Belle & Sebastian. All of these are my top favorites, and now I can move Gogol Bordello onto that list.

From the very opening chords, Gogol Bordello rocked the house. With their punky eastern European flavor, they instantly reminded me of The Pogues and The Clash - more favorites! Eugene Hutz, the leader of GB, sounds so much like Shane McGowan with a Serbian accent. (Well, he's Ukrainian, but he sounds just like my Serb friend, Nikola.) And then they did one song that reminded me so much of "Guns of Brixton" and "Straight to Hell," both by The Clash. Joe Strummer would have been proud!

They did "Start Wearing Purple" (below) on the soundtrack to Liev Schreiber's Everything Is Illuminated starring a very quirky Elijah Wood. He's so strange and adorable in this, you'll forget he was ever a hobit. Here's a taste:

Crafty Good Fun...and Wine!

Last Friday night was a blast. Several Etsy Dallas crafters and I convened in Larry's workshop armed with beads, glass, silkscreens, guacamole and wine! Brenda and I made some super cool dichroic glass pendants. Just check it out! B's is the one on top and mine are the two at the bottom. Her yellow nubbin turned out quite well, I daresay...

And here're all of the ones we made (me, Larry, Brenda, and Mandi - Pam and Dillon were silkscreening like crazy and didn't do glass this time around.)

A New Way To Shop

Tefi Designs will soon be taking full advantage of Etsy.com, the web's premiere shopping experience for all things handmade.

Over the next few weeks, Tefi will be phasing out shopping capabilities on this site to redirect customers to Tefi's Etsy shop, where all of her gemstone jewelry will be available for purchase.

Tefi will also launch her new venture, Fiddleheads by Tefi, where customers can find all of her fabric and felt crafts, including bookmarks, bobby pins, necklaces, and hair clips.

FiddleheadsByTefi

Why shop Etsy? Etsy is the hip marketplace for handmade goods from individual artists and crafters around the world. Like any other shopping site (Amazon, Ebay, etc.), customers will need to provide a login and password. That's it! It's simple, fun, and a great way to support local, individual artists.

Yes, You Can!

I'm often told that politics and business don't mix. But if Ebby Halliday can put Bush posters all over her properties and still pull in millions, maybe she's on to something...

That said, you are looking at (if you look to your immediate right on your computer screen) an official senatorial delegate for the Obama campaign. This is all a result of my attending the caucus on March 4th and nominating myself to represent my precinct. This means I will get a chance to vote again on March 29th and get even more delegates for my man. Yay! It was so much fun.

Regardless of what side you're on, there are some great choices this year, and Tefi would love to see lots of votes for your candidate, whomever he or she might be. So get out there already!

Free Gift Boxes!

My oh my, do I love a good deal. Last weekend I found myself smack dab in the middle of a close-out sale at Macy's in Valley View Mall. As I rummaged through the damaged, faded, sad-looking displays, I came across a stash of gift boxes. I was all over it! The price wasn't as good for me had I had the patience to wait, but no way was I going to let someone else get them. *wink*

So I bought 40 gift boxes in two separate floral patterns. One is a metallic print with purples, pinks, and blues; the other is a bright print that reminds me of Matisse collages. While supplies last, all purchase (that fit) will be shipped to your door in one of these pretty little gift boxes. Enjoy!

(By the by, I was a little saddened to see Macy's close up shop at Valley View. Back when it was a Sanger Harris, Logan's Run was filmed there. Don't know what Sanger Harris is? Then you were probably born after 1980. Don't know what Logan's Run is? Oh my. My, my, my. Get yourself to your nearest video shop now!)
